Is your aim:
- to get your horse or pony backed ready for
riding in the Spring ?
- to bring your horse on during the
winter ready for competing?
Do you need:
- fittening work for your horse but can't manage
the necessary hours?
- a horse or pony that has been turned
away bringing back into work?
- a horse or pony prepared for sale?
Take advantage of our special winter rate for
livery and full daily care:
£35.00 per week
(feed, bedding, shoeing, etc., extra)
Schooling, hacking, etc: £20.00
per session (up to 4 sessions a week)
Our overall
approach
Classical
Training Method: patient, methodical progress
rather than "quick fixes" or gadgets.
Involving
owners: we make sure owners
know what work has been done, how and why.
Treating
each horse as an individual: finding
the methods that suit a particular horse or pony
Honesty:
we never exaggerate what can be achieved
in a given time.
Flexibility:
we will arrange the work to
help owners with limited budgets.
Backing
Usually from
three years upwards but we will accept a horse or pony before that
if mature enough. We produce horses and ponies for any discipline,
for showing and for general riding.
What you
can expect:
The foundation
We ensure that
your horse or pony:
- is easy to handle,
lead and be tied up
- has good manners at all times
- accepts tack calmly and willingly
- gets used to new and potentially
scary things
- works quietly on the lunge (i.e. without rider)
in walk, trot and halt
LENGTH
OF TIME IS 100% DEPENDENT
ON
HOW
MUCH WORK HAS BEEN DONE AT HOME.
We ensure that
the horse or pony:
- always stands still to be mounted
- goes forward in walk and trot with
a rider
- understands the basic riding aids
- will go out on the roads with a
companion
THE
AVERAGE TIME IS 4 TO 6 WEEKS
Schooling
on
Horses that
have come for backing often stay for further training or come back
the following year to start jumping, etc.
Older
horses
We take older
horses for training and retraining and have a wealth of experience
in overcoming long-standing issues. These can't be resolved by magic
in a few weeks but it is possible to "teach an old dog
new tricks" and also to modify bad behaviour.
What you
can expect:
- a thorough examination of
why and how problems have arisen (including physical causes)
- the same patient and methodical
approach that we use for young horses
- practical help and support to build
owners' confidence
WE
SET THE HORSE AND RIDER ON THE RIGHT PATH,
BUT LASTING SUCCESS ONLY COMES
IF THE RIDER CONTINUES THE WORK AT HOME!
